What Would Be A Better Game To Learn To Deal: Craps Or Roulette?

I’m thinking of going to a dealer’s school here in Las Vegas. Blackjack for sure is a go; poker has too many variants and I can do that later. So I want to pick up a second game, either craps or roulette. Which one would be better to learn in order to be viable in the job market?

I have never worked in Vegas, but in the casinos I have worked in they’re always looking for craps dealers. I think craps would give you more options if you ever wanted to leave Vegas. It does take a lot longer to learn, but in the long run it would be more worthwhile.

All of the tables are nice to work and it’s true that Craps is the king since it has all procedures from the other games (some pay-outs are the same as in roulette and blackjack and the skill with chips is more complicated). From what I’ve seen, the first table you deal leaves a deep mark in your style and even after you know all games, your first game is what you best do. In Black jack you need to work out a phisical movement that will show your quality for new positions, I mean, what casino manager doesn’t want to have a fast and accurate bj dealer working with him? What I did was craps in first place and that opened a door to the others in an easier way, but I could never develop a great bj style.

Exactly what were you planning on dealing ? There’s no cards in either of those. One uses dice and the other spins a ball on a wheel…

If you want to stay in the US and work on the ships then go with craps, if you want to travel further afield I suggest learning all the games you can.

just learn craps everything else is set up for the house to win

Craps is more difficult but it’s probably worth it. Craps is much more popular, casinos are always looking for craps dealers, and the transition from boxman to pit boss is a lot shorter than roulette dealer to pit boss if you’re looking to move up the ranks. Good luck.

Roulette definatly it’s more fun and i’ve never seen craps here in england not in the casinos i go to anyway. Craps is so complicated. I guess crap dealers are one in a million though, maybe learn them both

roulette is much easier as a dealer…
in craps the dealer needs to keep bets in his head half the time and its a ***** to work out some of the payouts, especially when they are betting weird amounts.
